Return visit to the clinic, 8/7/09

At our doctor's appointment we discussed the frozen embryo transfer (FET) steps, details of genetic testing, and my cycle since the 6/26 D&C. The big surprise is that because of my irregularities the doctor performed an ultrasound to make sure everything was ok and my uterus looked normal. He explained that many women have irregularities after a D&C until their body's hormones regulate. We fully expected the ultrasound to be routine however the ultrasound identified that the sac was still intact within my uterus. How'd this happen? More details to come in a following blog - I just don't have the energy to explain right now.

The FET process will go something like this:

- Lupron will shut my ovulation down and will be administered by daily shots.

- After some time, Estrogen will prepare my uterus and will be administered twice a week.

- Soon after Progesterone in oil shots aids in the implantation of the embryo and will be administered once daily directly into the muscle.

- The two frozen embryos will hopefully survive the thawing process and implanted into my uterus.

- Continue Progesterone in oil shots...

Genetic tests include:

APA - Antiphospholipid Syndrome (http://www.womens-health.co.uk/antiphos.htm)

LAC - Lupus Anticoagulant Test (http://www.sharedjourney.com/define/lac.html)

Karyotyping - check for chromosomal abnormalities (http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/461853)

Immediate next steps include another D&C this week then wait until we can take genetic tests (ETA unknown).
