Post-op Hysteroscopy Appointment, 1/14/2009

Today I had a second Hysteroscopy performed in order to check out how my uterus has healed since the surgery and to gauge whether or not my body is one step closer to being ready for getting pregnant via IVF.

I was given the same meds: valium (for relaxation), vicodin (for pain), and another shot for muscle relaxation. The procedure was probably only a 4 of 10 for pain even when they had to go searching for a video tape for recording.

The results are a bit gloomy. The doctor found scar tissue that's the size of a quarter of my uterus. In order to correct this, I will need another surgery to remove the scar tissue and will have a balloon placed in my uterus for about 4 days. The surgery will be outpatient and the recovery will be pretty quick (a few days) - we are thrilled about that!

We do not have a date for surgery yet and are recovering from our numbness with receiving the news. My good friend reminded me how it's better to go through this now than possibly it become a reason for a future miscarriage and she's so right. We sit here and realize how completely lucky that we have practically zero in our medical history, we have amazing doctors, a fierce support system, and each other. We truly are lucky.

As always, we'll keep you posted.
